Welcome to our AKC VHM Certification Courses, here you can find our Preparation Courses from home and obtain your first AKC Certification (VHM) from the comfort of your own home and begin your journey of responsible dog parenting. Parents enrolled in one of our school programs can access tutorial videos and self-study materials in preparation to their corresponding AKC exams, a great compliment to the existing in-person parent classes.

What is Virtual Home Manners?
Virtual Home Manners (VHM) is the answer when you want to train your dog at home. When you get a puppy or new adult dog, Virtual Home Manners can get you started on practical skills before you attend a training class.
The Virtual Home Manners tests assess ten skills that well-mannered pet dogs need in the home setting. The skills relate to the dog owner having control over the dog, being able to walk the dog (which is one of the most frequently cited activities that owners want to do with their dogs) and developing a bond with the dog during playtime.
The Virtual Home Manners tests are evaluated online by our CGC Evaluator. There is not an in-person VHM testing process. Virtual Home Manners is natural lead-in for AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy and Canine Good Citizen (CGC) in-person training.

AKC Certification Preparation
Puppy & Dog Online Training School Program to prepare for AKC VHM titles.
The evaluation of a dog’s ability to perform ten home manners skills will be done by a video recording. Two levels of Home Manners will be offered – Virtual Home Manners Puppy (VHMP) and Virtual Home Manners Adult (VHMA). Dogs that pass the tests will be awarded these titles. To earn the Virtual Home Manners titles, choose one of the two options and follow these easy steps:
3 months [12 weeks] to 1 year
VHMP - Virtual Home Manners Puppy
12 months+ [1 year +]
VHMA - Virtual Home Manners Adult
How Virtual Home Manners Works
Dog owners will video their dogs performing the required skills (Found upon the VHM checklists).
A video will be emailed to k9HS's Approved AKC CGC Evaluator. After watching the video, if the dog passes, the Evaluator will send the combined Checklist/Video Verification Form to the dog owner. The Evaluator will also send a copy of this form to AKC.
The dog owner will then send to AKC:
1) The Checklist/Video Verification
2) The Virtual Home Manners Title Application form
3) A fee of $25.00 (paid directly to the AKC)

• You must submit your video within the 6 month period to be evaluated by our Certified AKC Evaluator
• Only passing videos will receive certification paperwork
• Dogs who have the CGC or advanced titles may also earn Virtual Home Manners titles
